Dr. Mallina Sivarajasingam started her medical career by obtaining a medical degree from Manipal Academy of Higher Education(MAHE). She realised her calling while working in Ipoh General Hospital, then proceeded to pursue her Masters in ENT with Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM). Here, she was also conferred the Schering-Plough Young Investigator’s Award for her thesis on patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). During her training period she had the oppurtunity to work in various hospitals, ranging from Hospital Kuala Pilah, Seremban, Sungai Siput, Ipoh, HUKM and Hospital Sungai Buloh where she pioneered the Sleep & Snoring Clinic as well as the Sleep Study Lab. During this time she was an Honorary Lecturer for the Undergraduate students with UiTM as well as the Paramedical Post Basic ENT trainees under Ministry of Health. These various placements and exposure have nurtured as well as expanded her experience in ENT.
In continuing her passion and specialized interest in Head & Neck Oncosurgery, she completed her first year Fellowship in the mentioned field at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia. Here, she gained exposure and skills pertaining to Snoring and Sleep Apnoea, Head and Neck Cancers, Laser Surgery as well as Robotic Surgery. During her training there, she was also actively involved in clinical research involving patients undergoing Robotic Surgery and Radition for Head & Neck Cancers.
With over 15 years experience in the medical field and nearly 10 years devoted to ENT, Dr Mallina has written many articles and reviews published in local and internationally peer reviewed journals. She is also active in research pertaining to Sleep Apnoea, Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma as well as Head & Neck Cancers. Currently, she is a Resident ENT, Head & Neck Consultant with Tropicana Medical Centre.
